Albany County resident Scott Weinbloom, age 49, of Latham, pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography in Albany federal court on Thursday, Feb. 1.
According to prosecutors, a search of Weinbloom’s Latham residence in May 2022 turned up 1,300 photos and 1,500 videos of child pornography that had been stored on a USB flash drive.
Investigators also found two computers that had been used to store and view the illicit images.
Weinbloom faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He will also have to register as a sex offender.
Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, June 6.
The case was prosecuted as part of the Department of Justice’s “Project Safe Childhood,” a coordinated effort between local, state, and federal agencies to track down individuals who exploit children using the internet.
